FSWC Thanks Canadian Military and Police for Peacekeeping Efforts

TORONTO (August 9, 2017) – In recognition of NationalPeacekeepers’ Day, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) expresses itsgratitude to the Canadian military and police forces for their ongoingpeacekeeping efforts in Canada and around the world.

“Throughout history, peacekeepers have helped protect humanrights and the most vulnerable, particularly in countries facing war andconflict,” said Avi Benlolo, President and CEO of FSWC. “As a free anddemocratic nation, Canada plays a vital role in bringing peace to othercountries.” 

According to the Government of Canada, more than 125,000Canadian peacekeepers have been part of international peace efforts over thepast six decades.

At FSWC we are committed to promoting human rights, freedomand democracy every day through advocacy work and education. With programs likeTour for Humanity, Tolerance Training, Compassion to Action and Freedom Day,the organization helps encourage youth and community leaders to becomeadvocates of peace and tolerance.
