TORONTO (November 2, 2017) - FSWC has reachedout to the President of the University of Victoria, Jamie Cassels, to urge himto investigate and take action against those responsible for white supremacistflyers with antisemitic messaging posted on campus.

Last week, posterspromoting alt-right websites were found at the university with the ominous slogan"Those that hate us will not replace us", clearly reminiscent of theantisemitic chants heard during the Charlottesville Rally earlier thisyear. The word "Those" appeared in triple parenthesis, anantisemitic slogan aimed at identifying a person or group as Jewish.

"The alarmbell continues to ring. Although no one has taken responsibility for theseposters, university administration and law enforcement must make everyeffort to identify those spreading such messages of intolerance and hate inhopes of recruiting students to their destructive cause. As we see groupsidentifying with the alt-right spilling out onto our streets on a regularbasis, it will take all sectors to continue to confront the messages ofintolerance they try to spread," said Avi Benlolo, President and CEO ofFSWC. "With the ongoing attempts to push racist ideologiesmainstream, we must each play our part to counter such messaging and use allthe tools available to us."

This follows similar reports of recruitment posters appearing on Canadian campuses, including McGill, University of Toronto, University of Calgary and University of Victoria itself. In September, the President condemned racist messaging on social media targeting Indigenous people by  university campus members as contrary to the inclusive community his administration was committed to building.
