Toronto (July 19, 2018) - Policein Medicine Hat, Alberta are investigating two incidents involvinghate-motivated material that was recently distributed. The first incidentinvolved posters being left on a church with the message “immigration=whitegenocide.” A few days later, pamphlets promoting the website of ananti-immigration group led by Paul Fromm, a notorious white supremacist basedin Canada, were placed on vehicles with phrases such as “stop white genocide,”“white self-hate” and “Jewish supremacy.”
Medicine Hat Police told Friendsof Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) that they cannot confirm at this time if the twoincidents are connected.
“Over the past year, we haveseen numerous incidents involving hate material being distributed claimingthere is a ‘white genocide’ taking place. This is a form of antisemitism andracism, falsely claiming there’s a genocide taking place and Jews and otherminorities are the ones to blame,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “Asanti-immigration groups, many of which have members that identify as neo-Nazisand white supremacists, continue to express their hateful views, it’s up to thepublic to remain vigilant and speak out when they see incidents such as thistake place.”
