TORONTO(September 28, 2017) - A leasing sign belonging to a Jewish-family owned realtycompany has been defaced with a swastika in the area of Steeles Ave. West andDufferin St. north of Toronto. FSWC reported the graffiti to York RegionalPolice yesterday and to the hate crimes unit.
“This incident cannot be looked at as just another act ofvandalism that is often seen on public signs,” said FSWC President and CEO AviBenlolo. “The graffiti is clearly an attack against the Jewish community and must be dealt with seriously.”
FSWC alsoreached out to the company owners who confirmed that this appears to be an isolatedincident. While the sign is still up, FSWC has urged that it be covered upuntil the sign could be replaced tomorrow.
Police continue to investigate the incident and are lookinginto whether other graffiti has been reported in nearby locations.
