Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) condemns racist Nazi graffiti discovered in the city of Coquitlam and commends Metro Vancouver officials for taking immediate action by removing the graffiti and reporting the incident to police.

The graffiti, which included swastikas and the number 88 – a number used by neo-Nazis as a code for the Nazi salute – was found spray painted on a hydro box on the Central Valley Greenway earlier this week.

“This graffiti is not just an attack against the Jewish community, but an attack against all minority groups and must be widely condemned,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “Thank you to Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart for speaking out against this disturbing graffiti and Metro Vancouver officials for reporting the graffiti to police and ensuring its removal.”
