Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is pleased to note that following pressure from the public, an antiques company in Richmond, B.C. removed Nazi memorabilia from its list of items up for bid ahead of its auction that took place on Saturday.
Nazi memorabilia removed by Maynards Fine Art & Antiques reportedly included a Nazi flag, military and police helmets, navy hats, badges and pins.
“Nazi memorabilia can be used as an educational tool when teaching the public about the Second World War and the Holocaust, but it should only be used by educational institutions. It is inappropriate to promote and attempt to make a profit from items that stem from the same regime that committed numerous atrocities, including genocide, and murdered six million Jewish people and millions of others,” said FSWC president and CEO Avi Benlolo.
