MONTREAL (May 3, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center(FSWC) commends a team of reporters at the Montreal Gazette for theirrevelation that a prominent international neo-Nazi writer and recruiter is, infact, a former IT specialist living in the city's Rosemont-La Petite-Patrieborough.

Accordingto The Gazette, Gabriel Sohier Chaput is behind the moniker"Zeiger." He is described as "the second-most prolificwriter on the Daily Stormer, an extreme right-wing news website that attractsupwards of 80,000 unique visitors a month."

Over the past two years, the newspaper reports,"Zeiger" has been actively recruiting, holding private gatherings atlocal bars.

It was "Zeiger" who helped identify himself, accordingto the Gazette. Anti-fascist activists were able to determine his identityafter he revealed the high school he attended while appearing on a whitesupremacist podcast.

FSWC will closely monitor developments with the"Zeiger" dossier.

Another news item out of Montreal this week isalso of concern: During Tuesday's annual May Day protest, one man heldup a swastika flag from the roof of an apartment building in theParc-Extension neighbourhood.
