Teens Charged After Racist and Antisemitic Graffiti Found in Ottawa Neighbourhood

TORONTO (April 30, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) commends OttawaPolice Service for taking quick action against the suspects after racist andantisemitic graffiti was discovered in the neighbourhood of Old OttawaEast. 

On Sunday morning, residents woke up to find several homes,cars and a playground tagged with graffiti, which included the N-word andswastikas. At least one car also had its windows smashed.

“Individuals who feel it is appropriate to attackcommunities with vandalism and display such offensive messages must deal withthe consequences and hopefully learn from them as well,” said FSWC Presidentand CEO Avi Benlolo. “Ottawa police should be commended for quickly finding thesuspects and laying charges for this hateful crime.”

The suspects are three teenage males, each of whom have beencharged with one count of mischief to property.
