Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies invites the Media to join us on Parliament Hill for an OPEN HOUSE on the Tour for Humanity mobile Tolerance Education Classroom
October 6, 2016 - Toronto Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) invites the media to join us on the East Lawn Laneway on Parliament Hill at 3 pm today for an Open House on the Tour for Humanity (T4H) mobile Tolerance Education Classroom initiative.
Launched in late 2013, the Tour for Humanity is 42-foot RV that has been retrofitted as a wheelchair accessible mobile classroom for 30 students. Designed to bring FSWC’s educational workshops on human rights to communities across the province, T4H has delivered programs on the Holocaust, genocide, bullying, leadership, heroes and the history of discrimination in Canada to more than 60,000 students throughout Ontario. “As the leader of a human rights advocacy organization I have spent my entire professional career working to counter hatred, antisemitism and racism, and to foster greater tolerance and respect for diversity at all levels of society,” said FSWC President & CEO Avi Benlolo. “In my experience, the best way to foster these values is through education, and that is the mission of the Tour for Humanity: to inspire and empower students to raise their voices for positive change in their schools, communities and the world at large.”
