Toronto (September 5, 2019) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is monitoring the case of a Toronto man charged for allegedly yelling “Heil Hitler” and calling for Jews to be killed at this year’s Walk with Israel event.

Ali Amirsalam was reportedly arrested last week and is scheduled to appear in court in October.

“We support the Toronto police in their decision to arrest and charge this individual, sending a message that hate speech and targeting the Jewish community will not be taken lightly by law enforcement in the city,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “Cases such as this and Your Ward News have hopefully set a precedent for how police handle similar cases that occur in cities throughout Canada.”
