Toronto (February 15. 2018) --Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) condemns theblatant antisemitism in an article posted on the Facebookpages of  two student groups at the University of British Columbia - Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) - UBC and Color ConnectedAgainst Racism UBC. Following complaints from students on campus, the groups apologized and  removed the link to the abhorrentarticle replete with antisemitic slurs and racist conspiracy theories.

"The antisemitism here cannot be simply wiped out by removing the link. The posted article highlights the racism and blatant lies promoted inanti-Israel campaigns on campus by such groups which directly contributes tothe poisoned atmosphere Jewish students have identified,” said Avi Benlolo,President and CEO of FSWC. “Unfortunately, the apology by which the groupstried to distance themselves from the incident failed to recognize howanti-Israel rhetoric is itself a form of antisemitism. This is by nomeans an isolated problem unique to this campus and demands the full attentionof the university's administration.”

This incident comes after antisemiticposters were reported on the campus in November 2017 and antisemitic graffitiincluding swastikas was found in UBC classrooms. The McGill chapter of SPHR ispresently under investigation in connection with antisemitic postings byindividuals associated with that group which came to light in December 2017.
