Toronto (September 5, 2019) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) congratulates the Hamilton City Council for rejecting a request to speak made by white nationalist Paul Fromm.

Fromm wanted to make his case to Council Members against the city’s new hate prevention policy, but the Council made a unanimous decision to deny his request.

Its decision appears to be based on allegations that Fromm has a long history of involvement with notorious neo-Nazis, such as KKK Grand Wizard David Duke and Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel, and has links to a number of white supremacist organizations such as Aryan Guard. In the past, it has been alleged that Fromm has spoken at events celebrating Hitler’s birthday.

“Hamilton councillors made the right decision in refusing to allow a known neo-Nazi to formally address the Council,” said Avi Benlolo, FSWC president and CEO. “Individuals who spew hate have no legitimate place in our political processes and our elected officials should give them no opportunity to spread their ugly message.”
