Toronto(May 1, 2019) – Tonight at sundown, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center will join the Jewish community in observing Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day – and paying respects to the victims and heroes of the Holocaust.

Tomorrow evening, in recognition of Yom HaShoah, FSWC will be joined by faith leaders from across Toronto – including from the First Nations, Christian, Jewish,Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh and Baha’i communities – in an interfaith public prayer and candle-lighting ceremony. Government leaders, Holocaust survivors and community members will also be in attendance.

“The next two days serve as a reminder of the horrific tragedy that is the Holocaust and give all communities, not just Jewish, the opportunity to reflect and recognize the actions we can take to prevent similar hatred and intolerance that led to the Holocaust,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo.
